Formed on 7 January 2005, the NUS High School NCC Unit has a short but interesting history. The Unit started with only seven cadets. It was a tough beginning as there was no tradition to look to for guidance, unlike more established Units. The cadets soldiered on despite uncertainties and to date, the Unit has grown to the current strength of 39, including two Cadet Lieutenants training the Unit. Indeed our unit is extremely young, but we have achieved some outstanding performance. In 2006, the Unit entered the Orienteering Competition for the first time and was placed 4th among all Units in Singapore. In addition, the 4th batch of Specialists won the company best cadet award, 3 platoon best cadet awards, as well as the best in train fire award during the Specialist Course held in 2008. We are also tasked with the responsibility to organize parades for Speech Day and National Day. These are certainly a proud achievement for a Unit barely four years old.
Our trainings are held from 3pm to 6pm on Fridays. Our current Unit Sergeant Major is MSG Lim Zhi Qin Bernard and Assistant Sergeant Major is MSG Phua Han Siang. Our current Commanding Officer is Mr. Goh Tor Yuan.
The Unit will continue to strive for excellence in the coming years as it makes every effort to establish precedents and traditions for future years.
