NUS High School’s House System is named after well-known scientists and mathematicians:
Faraday - Yellow
Finonacci- Red

Upon joining the school, all students are placed in a particular house, which they would remain through the duration of their stay. All staff are also emplaced in a house as well.
Established since January 2005, the house system forms the structure for the organisation and the provision of student support for intra-school programmes and activities.
House activities are run largely by student leaders, comprising the House Captains, Vice-Captains and the various Level Representatives. Under the guidance of the House Masters and House Mistresses, these student leaders would be involved in the planning and organization of house activities and competitions.
Students and staff take part in house activities like the termly house meetings and House Days as well as the inter-house competitions that take the form of inter-house games (held either through the year or during post-exam activities), Annual Cross Country and Annual Sports Meet. Points are earned during these competitions held throughout. The house which earns the most number of points at the end of the year wins the Overall House Championship and will be awarded the most coveted Lai Yee Hing Overall House Challenge Trophy.
