To promote the pursuit and recognize the attainment of academic excellence and to encourage interest and involvement in co-curricular activities not withstanding the demands of academic work, the following scholarships are available:

A.  Ministry Of Education (MOE) Scholarships

MOE offers the following scholarships funded by EDUSAVE. These scholarship awards are only applicable to students who are Singapore Citizens.

1. Edusave Entrance Scholarship for Independent Schools (EESIS)

  • The EESIS is awarded up to the top one-third of the total number of Singaporean pupils posted to Secondary One in all independent schools, based on their PSLE results. The tenure of the scholarship in NUS High School will be 6 years. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
  • Singaporean GEP students are eligible for EESIS. GEP students who are non-Singaporean are eligible for SMA (point B).

    Applicants must be:

    2.  Not recipients of the EESIS.
    3.  In or admitted into the IP at Secondary 3 the following year.

Pupils who wish to apply for the ESIP at Secondary 3 would need to complete and submit this application form to your IP School. Secondary 3 applicants for the ESIP are required to sit for an Integrated Programme Scholarships Test (IPST)in order to determine your suitability for the scholarships.  The date for the test is tentatively set on 21 or 28 February 2009 (Saturday). Please note that there is no alternative test date and a test fee of S$20 is payable for the IP Scholarships Test. MOE will inform you of the test venue and time through your IP School in early January 2009.

The ESIP will be awarded to Secondary 3 pupils who:

   1.  Obtained outstanding results in the IPST; or

   2.  Were in the GEP at Secondary 2 prior to entering the IP (you need not sit for the IPST as you will be offered the

        ESIP automatically upon application); or

   3.  Achieved an aggregate score of 262 and above for the 2006 Primary School Leaving Exam (you need not sit for the

IPST as you will be offered the ESIP automatically upon application).

   4. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the scholarship.

B. Singapore-MOE Award (SMA)

The Ministry of Education is also offering the SMA to GEP students who are non-Singaporeans, provided that

(i) they are recommended to continue in GEP at Secondary One, and

(ii) they are posted to the Integrated Programme at Secondary One.

The award is tenable for 6 years and the award quantum is capped at the Singapore Citizen school fees. The scholar must make good progress each year in order to continue receiving the award.
