The NUS High School Gavel Club is dedicated to equipping its members with the ability to communicate effectively. It is an affiliate of Toastmasters International, an organisation with over 10,000 oratorical clubs in the world with the same dream, and shares the traditions and protocol of Toastmasters International.
With more than 40 members and growing, the NUS High School Gavel Club will continue to enhance the oratorical, persuasive, and debating skills of its members through a fun, enriching, and rigorous curriculum packed with engaging activities.
The NUS High School Gavel Club regularly participates in several oratorical competitions and following a good haul of awards in previous years, featuring talented and dedicated member S. Srivatsan who won 2nd Place overall in the Tampines Junior College Oratorical Competition 2005. Through our training curriculum, we have great confidence in sending our members to clinch these awards.
The NUS High School Gavel Club is affiliated with the NUS High School Debate Team, with many award-winning debaters such as Asra Siddiqui who achieved the 3rd Best Speaker in Raffles Junior College Youth-14 Debate Championships 2006. After its debut in 2006, the Debaters strive to perform well in the many debating competitions that they participate in regularly.
