SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS CHALLENGE 2010 (SIMC 2010)
24 – 27 May 2010, Singapore

    1. SIMC 2010 aims to provide students with the opportunity to be innovative, creative and to develop in them a global mindset in the pursuit of knowledge. The biennial event allows students to showcase and pit their skills in a rigorous competition in the application of mathematics. Students will have the opportunities to interact in social and cultural activities

    2. SIMC 2010 also aims to provide a platform for professional exchange of good practices in Math education across different countries through the teachers’ and principals’ programmes. It provides opportunities for mathematics educators to engage in professional discourse and establish and develop ties with counterparts from other schools from around the world.

    3. The event will be held from 24 May 2010 (Mon) to 27 May 2010 (Thu) in Singapore. Participants should register in by 23 May 2010 (Sun). It is open to all students 14 – 18 years old in 2010 as of 2 Jan 2010.

    4. There will be two parallel programmes – the Student Programme and Educator Programme. The main highlights in the Student Programme are educational trips to research institutes and universities, as well as cultural immersion activities. The Educator Programme will feature networking opportunities and sharing sessions by the respective schools. Each school will be asked to present their programmes for mathematics education.

    5. The costs for accommodation, meals, local transportation and hospitality for the students and the accompanying teacher and principal will be borne by Singapore as the host. However, the cost of travel to and from Singapore will be borne by the participating school.
